Ahead of the Curve

We hope you are ready to go through your closets and decide which pieces will be staying with you this season. Today, we will be posting a few more inspirational photos from New York fashion week to keep you ahead of the curve.

But first, let's review our Spring / Summer 2015 color palette

Sweeping through your closet and setting aside clothing items of this color will help transition your wardrobe from F/W'14 to S/S'15. If you are a monochromatic fashionista, you are in luck this year; faded and muted variations of these colors are also in trend.

-------

Here are a few keys to achieving the 70s inspired looks for our minimalists.

Pale hues
With a mix between pale Custard and Glacier Gray, Akris morphs its design to '70s preppy, and still able to keep its signature sporty chic

Strawberry ice shade when paired with whites or grays will tone down the hues

Relaxed menswear

Balance the shapeless silhouette of menswear-inspired pieces with fabrics that have light sheen

Playful details add a feminine touch and help shape your boxy garments

Dramatic silhouette
For a more dramatic silhouette, style a pair of high-rise chiffon/silk pants with a fitted bodysuit. This styling accentuates a woman's natural curves without being too revealing.

For a rock-n-roll feel, pair your leather leggings or pants with bohemian statement pieces

Bold textures
For a crisp look, go for the classic textures - suede, velvet, and velveteen.
Gladiator sandals also get revitalized with more uplifting colors.

Incorporate this season's colors (shown here: aquamarine) to modernize your outfit.

Effortless asymmetry

Asymmetry is used in many garments as a clever way to effortlessly create a body conscious line this season.

Tuck in your baggy fishnet sweaters (or loose tops) to form diagonal lines
Create the slimming structural designs yourself!

Prints and psychedelic patterns are iconic for the '70s era. However, there are more than one way to interpret this year's trend.
An advice for our minimalists - pay attention to the silhouette, the paler variations of PANTONE colors, the effortless structural designs and the classic textures,
...and last but not least, create your curves using unexpected F/W14 accessories that you already own!

---
The hippie era is slowly making its way back into the fashion pendulum.
To end this week's update, we present you a modern British band called Temples
whose fashion and styles will make you wonder how dreamy it would be to live in the 70s...

Stay ahead of the curve

xx,
OL

The Streets with No Limitations.

Urban Street-Wear is coming to our cities this year tough with no limitations. We all need something nice and quick to go out and about with life. Even though Street-wear is sometimes difficult to be defining from those who wear it, it is inspired from the fashion movement which was influence from what is happening outside of our homes.

Street-wear is usually casual, comfortable garments, such as jeans, t-shirts, tops, sneakers and etc. which were also influence by the hip-hop and skateboarding styles back in the 1980s.  Rob Garcia and his team have taken urban street-wear to another level! Rob Garcia received his inspiration from his Californian roots and cultural heritage. Rob is a Native American Designer from Southern California who grew up skating.  Rob Garcia and his En Noir team are presenting their Spring/Summer 2015 Street-Wear collection at the New York Fashion Week.

Need something that’s not too casual, black crewneck shirt with roll up sleeves, black skinny denim and black dressed shoes will do the job.
Rob Garcia

Can’t go wrong with a basic Monochromatic burgundy outfit with a short-sleeve shirt and shorts and a pair of black and white Vans Authentic shoes.

Just going out for quick skate session with a gray distressed shirt and black skinny-fit denim.

Need a quick outfit to go walking or jogging down the beach with a zip-up jacket and zipped pockets shorts with a navy blue Van’s Skate HI’s.

Just need to go for a walk in the park, white crewneck shirt with the short sleeves rolled up and black distressed jeans, with a Black and white Vans Authentic shoes to match is perfect for this occasion.

Going for both Black denim Jacket and Jeans, with navy blue shirt inside the jacket, and all white Van’s is an outfit to go hang out with friends during the night.

Feeling a bit Distressed? A black jacket with blue distressed jeans with zipped pockets and navy blue and white Vans will make you feel a lot better.

Loving the spring season, well this outfit is perfect for it with a Burgundy Leather jacket with grey/ash jeans and black and white Vans Old Schools.

Spring’s season is being bi polar, a monochromatic burgundy tank-top with a sweater on the other hand, with grayish/olive green denim and a pair of all-white Van’s Skate HI shoes.

Who said Mechanics apparel isn’t fashionable? Well, we got a Monochromatic Grey button-up collar shirt with regular fit pants and black authentic.

Now that you seen some awsome street-wear such as denim, shirts, button shirts, button jackets, pants, and Vans Shoes, with Fall/Summer Color palettes, now lets start this season with some Nero-Reaching out (Fred Falke Remix) for that Fall/Summer Feeling.

Dressed as a Daydream

Bohemian Chic is back in full effect and it’s better than ever!  Romantic floral, ruffles, fringe, carefully calculated transparent lace, and beautiful airy dresses was what it was all about for the Spring 2015 Ready-to-wear collections during fashion week. First, I will focus on the more practical runway pieces that could be worn during the day. Second, I will focus on the garments that can be worn during the night. For each category (night and day) I will also discuss how you can approach the styling methods from the runway and mesh it into your own sense of style and look. Some of my favorite designs (and the ones i will be focusing on here) include the work of Rodarte, Marchesa, Roberto Cavalli, and Blumarine. Enjoy!

Lets talk day wear...

The looks I chose here consist of mainly formal proportion and equal balancing designs. Sequence, sheer blouses, a cool twist of ripped denim, and abstract print is a must this Spring season.

A sequined top can be paired with a simple circle skirt and metallic gladiator heels.
A loose mini dress with a fun print and low plunge looks great with platformed strappy sandals.
A sheer top with pleats and embroidered lace is a must have. Dress it down with a pair of ripped jeans along with a metallic clutch and platforms.
A denim on denim look can be spiced up with matching or similar textures on the top and bottom for a well thought out cohesive look.
Monochromatic top and bottom? Yes please! A white lace top with cream laced shorts and eccentric eyewear can give anyone a fashion forward look.
Pair a nice jersey inspired jacket with a mini skirt and tall gladiator heels (that match the adornments of your jacket).

....now lets talk night wear.

The looks I chose here are similar to the daytime looks with the sheer lace, sequence studded dresses, lively ruffles and floral prints. Utilize these styling techniques for a night out on the town or a more formal night where dressing to impress is crucial. Just remember one word, romance!

If your a simple girl, spice up your look with an off the shoulder, peasant top dress with lace bottoms and lacy shoes.
Pair an asymmetrical high waisted skirt with a cropped sheer lace top and cut out platforms (preferably with a boat neckline) and your ready to go!
A loosened cold shoulder maxi with beautiful striped flower prints synched at the waist can be worn with platforms or gladiator sandals.
If your style is more on the eccentric side a whimsical dress with 3 or 4 mixed textures and colors will give you the daring umph your looking for.
A sporty glam inspired maxi dress with a low plunged neckline can flatter any figure.

So, before you head out to buy these hot upcoming trends or dig through your closets in hopes to replicate these looks remember: lace, sheer, sequence, and texture are your best friends!

In honor of these hopelessly romantic looks...I give you Mo's "Never Wanna Know". Enjoy!

The Dark Side of the Mood

The 40s has the iconic Christian Dior's A-line; the 50s has the Audrey Hepburn's capri pants ; the 60s has the futuristic miniskirts. In 2015, there is no doubt that it is going to be a big year for 70s-inpsired menswear and womenswear. We can safely say that the daring paisley prints and bohemian textures are making a comeback.
However, thanks to the power of technology, many subcultures' styles have the opportunity to trend at the same time.
For this S/S, darker and calmer moods are brought to us by Giambattista Valli, John Varvatos, La Perla Atelier and even Yves Saint Laurent, who has never been inspired by the rock 'n roll subculture.

Giambattista Valli has mastered the art of mixing the ultra-feminine, classic Chanel inspired tweed jacket with more edgy color palette and cut. Our girls are in luck this year; this collection has brought a new meaning to designs with his updated interpretation of lace and tulle. These popular fabrics have not only been a staple for many previous years, but they are continuing to make their way to S/S 2015 runway in a different form...

Yves Saint Laurent presented an excellent show for the late 70s, early 80s lovers.
A perfect medley between Janis Joplin and Joan Jett.

What about the guys?

In honor of these edgy runway collections, here is what I have for our Style Adaptor's soundtrack this week (if you haven't already figured out by the title of this post, lol)
Pink Floyd - "Money"

What do we fashionistas always say? "Money can't buy styles" ;)
